MY VISIT

August 24, 2019

My first visit to New York was to the capitol, Albany. I spent less than a day there since it was just one of the many stops in my New England tour. We took a tour of the Capitol Building is very, very fancy, which makes sense since it is the most expensive capitol building in the United States. There are intricate designs and carvings hidden all over the buildings, from the pillars to the tables. Afterwards, I walked around the grounds, and then took a tour of The State Education Building (which is where the Liberty Bell is located). It was a very nice building, and was heavily guarded. The bell had a plaque and a well painted crack. The bell itself was kept in perfect condition, and was probably one of the best looking bells I have ever been to. The inside of The State Education Building had some excellent paintings, including one of Icarus, as well as another piece of art that some people consider controversial. Shortly after, I left Albany, New York to go to my next stop, New Hampshire…

Side Note: While this visit was short, I have traveled to New York City and upstate New York several times. I have seen many broadway shows, including The Lion King, and have had some great meals at many excellent restaurants. I have been to The Great Jack O’Lantern Blaze twice. While in the Tarrytown/Sleepy Hollow area, I visited Washington Irving’s home, the Union Church of Pocantico Hills (there is a beautiful stained glass window of a rose), the Sleepy Hollow Cemetery, as well as Kykuit (The Rockefeller Estate). In 2023, I visited Ellis Island and climbed to the crown of The Statue of Liberty.
