MY VISIT

April 6, 2021

This was a fast trip. First, we left very early in northern Tennessee. When we reached Kentucky, we stopped at a national park called Mammoth Cave in Mammoth Cave, Kentucky. It was very cool (in both ways). When we walked in, I was trying to find the stamp place. I have a stamp passport that is for national parks. Luckly, there was a park ranger, so we asked him. My mom went to go to the front desk to ask where the cave was, while me and my dad went to go get the stamps. I got three stamps, one that said “Mammoth Cave”, one that said, “Mammoth Cave Junior Ranger” and one that has bats on it. We met my mom again and she told us where it was. We walked for a little bit and it was very hot. We ended up at the cave, and it was spilling with water, and was very cold. We walked back and took a picture in front of the sign. We got back onto the road. As we kept driving we saw there was another national park which was Abraham Lincoln Birthplace in Hodgenville, Kentucky. As we drove through the place, the visitor center was closed! We had to go to the Lincoln Memorial. This Lincoln Memorial was the original one built before the one in Washington D.C. When we walked inside, we were looking around. There was nobody there! There was a park ranger and we asked to get a stamp. He gave it to me and it said, “Abraham Lincoln Birthplace NHP”. We walked around and there was a replica of the house he was born in. It was very small and it was a log cabin. There were some little things you can buy and some signs about his life and his presidential history. We went out and back into the car. As we kept driving we ended up at a CookOut in Frankfort, Kentucky. I got a hotdog, french fries and onion rings. Right next to it was the Buffalo Trace. We drove there and it was very old fashioned. Buffalo Trace is a bourbon distillery. There were a lot of barrels of it. We walked into the first building, got a temperature check and a sticker that said “Buffalo Trace Distillery”. The sticker also had a buffalo on it. We walked into the main building and almost missed our tour. We ended up making it and we didn’t miss a lot. Throughout the tour, we saw a lot of bourbon and I found a bird egg with a bird inside. There was also a secret door that led to all of the bourbon and my mom and dad had a bourbon tasting. I had root beer though! After that, I put the egg in the cup, went to the gift shop, and I got a buffalo stuffed animal that I named, “Bourbon”. After that, time to go to the Liberty Bell! It was behind a museum and it was in a garden. We found this out by going inside the museum and we asked some cops and they said it was just about to close! We ran to the gate to get into the garden, and luckily, it was open. The wooden base at the bottom was falling apart, and there was yellow caution tape around it. We had to do with what we had. We took some pictures and went to the capitol building. There were some huge tulips  and the Governor’s Mansion was right next to it. On the second level there were a lot of blue windmills too. We got back into the car. It was time to go to the hotel. We went to a Home2 Suite. Then we went to Miguel’s Mexican Restaurant. The food was really good and same with the dessert. I may have fed the ants too… We went back into the hotel and went to bed. The next day it was already time to go to the next state!
