MY VISIT
March 28, 2024
Four bells, four capitals, four days. This is day one. I flew into Detroit airport around lunch time and drove straight to the Constitution Hall in Lansing, Michigan to see the Liberty Bell. I had to schedule a time to visit it, since it is in a building. After a little bit of waiting I was taken down the stairs by a man and woman. I took some photos and noticed a large statue as well. I was told that it is of Zachariah Chandler, a former US Senator, and how it used to be in Washington D.C. before later being shipped to Michigan.
After leaving the hall, I walked over to the Capitol Building. I was allowed to go inside, and took a self-guided tour. I explored what they had to offer, and picked up a few fun facts. For example, Elijah Myers built 5 capitol buildings, and I have been to 4 of them (including Michigan). After looking around for a little bit more I left and drove to the hotel. I then checked in and looked for places to eat nearby.
Ethiopian food always seemed interesting, so I decided to eat at a restaurant called Altu’s. The bread was very spongy and kind of tangy/sour, it was odd. To go along with it, I ordered spicy beef and lentils, and those were pretty good! Finally, I drove back to the hotel and went to sleep, ready to leave for our next state early in the morning — Indiana.
