MY VISIT

Capitol Building - September 4, 2021
Liberty Bell - June 26, 2022

My first trip to New Jersey was when we went to see the State Capital Building in Trenton. The building was under construction but we were able to walk around the city. As we were walking we came upon the World War II Memorial. We took some pictures and left to go to Grounds for Sculpture. We spent the day there and saw a huge koi pond. We also saw lots of metal arches and a huge foot sticking out of the ground. My favorite section was an area full of mist and water. It is right by a bronze statue made by Kiki Smith.

The next time we went to New Jersey we went to the Jersey Shore and saw the Liberty Bell. The reason that we didn’t see the bell last trip is because it is actually not in Trenton! It is located in Perth Amboy. First we went to the beach in Asbury Park. It was really fun and while we were there I got tacos and a crepe. We went into the (freezing cold) water but I really didn’t care. While we were walking on the boardwalk we saw the iconic Tillie mural. After we left we drove to yet another beach called the Sandy Hook Beach where we all went kayaking. My mom found a horseshoe crab (molt) and I still have it. We also went into the chilly water and I jumped around for a couple minutes before we left. Overnight we stayed at Courtyard by Marriott in Red Bank. After we got settled in we went to The Melting Pot (a restaurant) and ate some fondue. The cheese and dessert were delicious. We drove back to the hotel and got a good night’s sleep. In the morning we drove to the Molly Pitcher Inn for breakfast. It was a really fancy hotel and I got Belgian waffles with strawberries, whipped cream and chocolate chips. Lastly, we went to see the Liberty Bell in Perth Amboy and then left. Bye New Jersey!
